People using the Compaq/HP A8AE-LE motherboard may have noticed very slow performance with BIOS v3.13 (the latest version available on the HP site) due to the system taking 60% to 100% of CPU cycles even at idle time.
BIOS v3.14 fixes this problem, but is unfortunately not yet available. Edwin, one of the moderators at Wim’s BIOS Forum can email you this version if needed. Head over to the forum thread and send edwin a PM to ask for the BIOS.

Hey! Still here and keeping all informed….congrats! My idea is that given the long history of Wim’s bios page and it’s service to the community (especially builders) is that you could consider now focusing on the many laptop/notebook configurations that keep users in “jail” with whitelisting and other methods of forcing expensive upgrades only from the manufacturers and only on certain expensive (MS$) OS. Users need to be able to determine which OS they use esclusive of manufacturer interests. Also, the open source movement has matured exponentially, yet still the big companies try to keep us as slave to their $$$ agreements. These practices are the equivalent of auto manufacturers forcing car owners to drive on “approved roads only”. Thanks for being here all this time (1st time for me: 1998).
Now own a HP dv9000 series laptop w/broadcom (user *HELL*) wireless card and sweating whether I’ll be able to keep using the system after $1200 outlay. There’s gotta be a better waay!! Take Care. Have A Healthy, Prosperous Day!!

Looking for a DOS version BIOS installer/updater for an HP A8AE-LE Motherboard BIOS. Any BIOS version will do, current version 3.13. A virus damaged the BIOS, XP won’t load nor will Bart/PE disc complete boot, blue screens/locks up computer. Thanks
Cancel the above request. I extracted the .ROM from the HP BIOS update and used an older version of awflash to flash the BIOS.
