Hi, thanks in advance for the help.
I have a laptop: MITAC MT6120 N
Currently is equipped with the original hard-disk (6Gb of capacity).
Unfortunately the hard-disk has a mechanical problem.
Believe it or not I didn't found an hard-disk with the same capacity as a spare part on the market.
I bought a 40Gb but when the laptop should detect it... just hangs.
I tried to find out the BIOS string but I didn't find it.
During the POST the following informations appeear:
SystemSoft MobilePro Version 1.00
System BIOS R 1.11
Thanks again and regards.
Flavio.

There's a functional MiTaC FTP server here:
ftp:// 203.66.161.4 /pub/
...but your 1.11 version seems to be a lot newer than the latest available there for your laptop...

Other possible MiTaC BIOS sources:
R 1.11: http:// http://www .chemusa .com /bios_update.php3
R 1.10: ftp:// 64.166.249.2 /drivers/bios/
...if you check their RAM/HDD compatibility chart:
http:// 203.66.161.9 /visitor_htm/memory_HD.asp
...you'll see that version 1.11 only supports 30GB HDDs max.

Is there a capacity limit jumper you can fit to restrict it to 32MB? If not, you may be able to download a utility from the HDD manufacturer to make the drive report a smaller size that your notebook can cope with.
