Dumping contents of PCI card BIOS (on expansion ROM) to file

I believe that PCI cards in computers, eg sound cards, gfx cards, network cards etc sometimes have a writeable area called an Expansion ROM where a BIOS can be kept.

For a research project of mine I need to find a way of dumping the contents of the Expansion ROM of certain PCI devices to a file. I then want to compare this with the contents of the expansion ROM that comes with the card ...

Need Intel BIOS Editor

Hi all,

Could someone point me to a tool/method to edit an Intel BIOS (CO96510J.86A.6094.2009.0406.1239) on a DQ965CO Mobo?

I already have the .BIO file downloaded from the Intel site and was able to flash it successfully.

On a related note, anyone know of a windows based tool that can change the BIOS values? I swear I saw a console based utility a few years ago with an ASCII-gfx interface that could change some settings... ...

Wrong BIOS flashed. Reprogrammed with Willem Pic Programmer

Hi,
We have a strange problem.

We have a Shuttle computer and we have (we think) flased a wrong bin file into the BIOS.

Result : When you start the computer, nothing happens. The fan is running at full speed, but nothing comes on the screen.

So we thought to buy a WILLEM programmer. We bought it in Hong KONG.
The BIOS chip is a SST49F004A (a 4 mbit chip).
We have downloaded a couple ...

Toshiba flash utility, TBDECODE.DLL and such.

Hello everybody

Is there somebody who has interest in decoding/uncompressing/extracting the BIOS of a modern Toshiba laptop?

This would be necessary to enable Tohsiba users to mod their BIOSes. I have found the file TBDECODE.DLL within the Windows BIOS-Update, so I suppose, that that file is the one who expands the file bio0044t com-file so that the bios can be patched.

I use IDA Free to look at what that file is doing, but have ...

Phoenix trustedcore flashing problem

Hello everyone!

I've got a problem while trying to backup an image with phlash16. Using a phlash16, i need an original *.wph file, even if i need just a backup of my image. Seems like the "WPH" part of file, which is not included into a ROM, provides flashing service. If I use an non-original BIOS image as an input (i.e. Phoenix trustedcore bios, but the other motherboard image), then either backup fails either i ...

QDI BrillianX B1S Fullscreen Logo

Hello.

Said mainboard has a fullscreen logo I'd like to change. The internal filename is QDI2.BMP, although I can't get any image viewer/editor nor tools like EPACoder to recognize its format.

My guess is that it's a RAW, headerless BMP.

Download the file here (right-click, save as): http://oerg866.randomsonicnet.org/QDI2.bmp

Any ideas?

Regards,
Oerg866

EDIT: QDI's AWARDS Page states:

99.07 Legend QDI's BrillianX IS mainboard was awarded the "Technical Excellence" from ...

Need Phoenix BIOS default editor

Hi all,

I am looking for a tool to change the default settings on a computer that has a Phoenix BIOS. I don't need to unlock any hidden menus or anything like that. I simply need to change a couple of default settings. I have the BIOS binary file already. Can someone point me to a shareware tool that can do this?

Thanks,

CobraRGuy :)
