News of General BIOS Questions

I just flashed a ECS P6STP-FL award bios sucessfully: however on the post screen right before booting to windows I get the text msg: "UNKNOWN FLASH TYPE". Everything else is fine I'm just curious to know what that means........

I have a fairly old computer, but I just swapped the motherboard and and the CPU with a little quicker one. But the new motherboard has a 'Creative Sound Blaster 16' onboard sound card, but It don't work properly. It will play very slow from Windows Media Player, but doesn't play anything else. It gets 'stuck' and just keeps repeating the same note, so therefore you have to shut down, then restart to get rid ...

I have an older computer I am trying to set up and when I turned it on for the first time in about 6 months everything went as expected but It would not boot any drivers, so Checked all the cable and such look ok. Went to check the cmos settins in the Bios and there was a password where there was not before.

Please help would like to use this computer but cannot get ...

I have an aged board with an AMI bios, dated 1994. It's an Intel Triton, I think. I can't for the life of me manage to get into the bios Setup program.

On boot, it doesn't say which key combination to use. I've tried most everything I thought would work--ESC, DEL, INS, F1, F2, CTL, ALT, SHFT in various arrangements.

Has anybody else run into one of these machines that doesn't want you to get ...

A few weeks ago my Computer started playing the "fur Elize" sound from the built-in speaker every 10 minutes for 2 minutes long.
I've tried eveyting, including removal of the harddisk and booting from (a clean) floppy with DOS. The problem remains.
I suspect it has something to do with my BIOS. Is it a BIOS virus or some stupid build-in functionalty from DFI?

when i boot up my comp.. it says "plz reselect cpu speed". when i select the cpu speed. press f10 and exit..it again gives the same error.but when i enter the bios setup screen and make no changes i.e do not select the speed. and simply exit..the computer boots normally.this happens everytime i boot my comp.please help me on this.

I have a logitech quickcam express which my m590 will not recognise on the usb port. (atx form card).
The usb port works fine with my umax scanner and the camera works fine on another computer.
I have been told that it is a problem with the sis530 chipset.

I've done all logitech and usbman suggestions - uninstalling/reinstalling software - clearing out device manager in Safe mode..

Any suggestions short of buying usb/pci card????

Hi, i modified my bios (abit be6) to boot from cd-rom, and from then on i started having problems with hpt366 although i reverted the settings. Mostly system opens but windows welcomes with a bsod reporting an error about hpt366.sys and system shuts down. Have i messed up something or what? (I have two seperate xp installations, both give the same error) :cry:
