Add sata staggered spin-up support to BIOS

Is it possible to add sata staggered spinup support to a BIOS by decompiling and switching some options, or do you have to write additional code?

I have found a hardware solution for what I want, but space is tight and I prefer a software solution.

Option ROM and UEFI issues

Hello everybody!

I am having problems in executing one specific Option ROM on a UEFI based Asrock z68 Pro3 motherboard.
When installed one IT8212F based RAID controller prevents the whole system from booting. The same RAID controller works fine on every other (non-UEFI) motherboard that I tried. The problem shouldn't be hardware related, because other Option ROMs (for example ATASX or a PXE ) flashed to the same controller work fine. This makes me to ...

This is my first post in this forum, so please excuse if I unintentionally break any forum rules.

I am a windows Kernel programmer, and I need to find out from Windows, whether my underlying BIOS id EFI or legacy. I have used RW-everything to look at hte various structures, but till now I haven't been able to identify the specific EFI tag. The proposed solution should work with most (if not all) BIOS ...

BigHDD Patcher

Hi.

Thanks to information given to me by Jan Hill, and some boredom, I wrote a patcher that patches the AWARD BIOS 32GB bug, meaning after running the patcher, it will not hang anymore after the memory test.

I'd love if some people could test it. When I have gained some more knowledge about the 64GB fix, I'll try to implement it in the patcher. IMO the fact that AWD64GB isn't public yet is an ...

BIOS flash to include 9MB OS

Is it possible to add a small 9MB Operating System (OS) to some chip on the motherboard.
We cannot use an internal/external hard drive, USB flash, CD Rom or other removable device for our final solution.
Our need is to boot from the 9MB Unix OS file located on the motherboard.
After the BIOS is done performing system level checks, it should then boot the Unix OS from the motherboard location.
The Unix OS will ...
