BIOS update, EIDE card, or overlay software? (FAQ Hard disk recognition)

Option ROM loaded but no boot device

As far as I read expresscard port is just one PCI express slot with removable capabilities.
So I take one 2x sata expresscard based on SIL3132, offcourse was just a simple card, just SIL3132 controller.
Search in my junkyard for a flash and found one of 256k solder it to PCB and program with SIL BIOS
Here I did a little mistake,SIL BIOS was 128K and my flash chip was 256K so that bios was not ...

bad flash (involves hdd)

I hope this is the place to put this. I recently flashed my bios with what I thought was the right one. Guess I was wrong. Computer was working fine with no problems, then after the flash my computer now locks up at the first screen which is the oem screen where you access the bios or boot sequence. I unplugged everything and plug everything back in one at a time to find my problem ...

Ancient 07/23/1998-i440BX-W977TF-2A69KJ1CC-00: 80GB HDD?

Hello Wim's

I am new to BIOS issues!

As well as a more modern machine I have an ancient Locland 400MHz Pentium II on which I want to use a Seagate 80GB hdd as a second hdd, mainly as a backup. The bios will recognise the drive if it is jumpered to 32GB. Can I use all of the drive?

Several older threads on Wim's mention BIOS strings very similar to the one above. It ...

Amptron bios upgrade / 80GB HDD not recongnized

I had to replace my motherboard, so I bought an old one off eBay that was similar to mine. Now my hard drives aren't recognized. I have two Hitachi 80GB drives. The bios id is 12-18-1998-i440BX-PII-3100-010C-00. Apparently it's an Amptron, which seems to be out of business. I've searched but can't find an updated bios. If anyone has a clue how to track down a Bios upgrade, I'd appreciate it.

ECS K7s5a v3.1 & Via vt6421a

Hi,
I have a ECS K7S5A v3.1 Mainboard, and I am trying to add a boot option for my VIA VT6421A IO card. I have MMTOOL, and my latest bios rom, however MMTool will not let me open the ROM. I get an error message. Could it be that MMTool does not work on 64bit computers? (I am trying to do the editing on a different PC) Also, I am trying to add 6421V431.rom to ...

Hi Guys,

I need to mod the drive table in an Award Bios to add support for a new CF Solid State Drive that I am currently experimenting with. The drive spec sheets only gives the usual disk CHS parameters. However, to add a drive in award bios one needs to provide some other unfamiliar parameter values in the drive table. Can someone explain, what the following parameters are and how to calculate them:

1- ...
