News of My hard drive isn't recognized

Yet, i have a 40 GB disk limited to 32 GB with a jumper :oops:

Isn't it more secure, easer to use an overlay program as to replace some lines of bios with nop and try if it's work flawlessly?

My disk is partialy full with datas. Is it a particular risk at the moment i install the overlay program to lose datas on one or more ...

I have a Fujitsu Scenic Et computer with an Award Modular BIOS, v6.00PG. Just bought a 60 GB Western Digital and it's not working. Inside the BIOS it is reported as 32 GB in size, while in W2K it is reported as 8 GB (using either windows tools and Partition Magic).

I've searched extensively for a new version of the BIOS but nothing seems to match exactly so I guess I'll have to take something ...

I've just bought an 80 Gb Maxtor D540X-4K drive and installed it. My motherboard is an ASUS A7V-133 Socket-A. However, I can't get the PC to see past the first 32Gb! From reading other postings I gather there is a bug with Award bios. I downloaded the latest version I could find on their website (a7v1010). I flashed the bios and installed the new version with no problems - unfortunately the 32Gb limit ...

I have a Pentium II on a Dataexpert MBX8440 motherboard.
It supports up to 8.4 Gbs HD only.
Is there a BIOS upgrade that supports bigger disks ? Where can I get it ?
In the manufacturer web it is only available a BIOS ver 1.3 dated 9/25/98, and it seems as old as the one in my computer.
No more information is available at the manufacturer web.

I recently bought a 120GB hard drive but it is only recognized by fdisk as 48GB. I imagine I need to flash my bios but could it be a problem with Win98?
