I was trying to update the BIOS of two of my Acer Veriton 1000 machines.

I screwed up both machines somehow and now both machine won't boot. :(

Hitting the power makes the machine go into a cycle where it spins up the fan, then spins back down, as if it is continuously rebooting.

My K8NE DeLuxe mobo is constantly losing its settings following a cold boot (when plugging off the cable form current).

I changed the battery twice (bought a set of 2 brand new batteries). I updated the BIOS to the latest available version
(K8N-E Deluxe Beta BIOS 1012.007) from the Asustek web site. BIOS was updated successfully.

But I've got the same problem.

I have tried to flash the patched bios for the widescreen support. Awdflash said that the part number is different but I forced the flash anyway. Now the motherboard won't post at all. The bootblock doesn't seem to work as there is no floppy activity.

May the bootblock still be good ? How can I force boot from bootblock ? I have tried shorting different pins with no ...

A rather hilarious error of AWDFLASH made the checksum go wrong and my beloved aBit IS7-E is stuck on BIOS ROM Checksum error.

But it says Drive A error. I'm stumped here. I connected two different floppy drives and used a gajillion different cables -- nothing. I can't get the thing to recognize my floppy drive.

Any suggestions?

This mobo has no floppy ony USB devices. Tried normal and boot block recovery. Any tips specific to this mobo ? It is a very small mobo and has the 1-2-3 CLR cmos pins. I used a DVD iso to attempt the recovery. No dice. the unit just beeps 2-5-1 short beeps over and over. Never completes...Hmmm. This happended on 7 out of 9 computers. Two work no problem. I have the motherboard asus k8v-mx motherboard,, i recently installed a 512 MB DDR ram to my system,, When i installed it suddenly my system restarted after booting and then come to normal state after only inserting the mother bios cd and reinstall bios and it completed successfully.After that several times my system restarted unocassionly.. it countinues unkonowingly......
