I have a Acer Aspire desktop, model M1100 (specs here). My purpose is to make AHCI work for my Crucial M4 SSD, my current Bios doesn't support that. My current Bios is version R01-3, string 10/10/2007-RS290-SB600-6A669FK8C-0.
I want to know if it's a good idea to upgrade my BIOS to version R02-B1, I don't have the release notes.

Can anyone help me with this?

This is my first time posting. I require BIOS A02 and A08 to get to the current A09 BIOS. I tried Dell's drivers and downloads, and all they give is A09.
Any help would be very much appreciated.

I have a desktop with the NEC logo on the front. There's a sticker on the mobo inside which says P5S800-VM/S, and directly under this is printed "Asus" on the motherboard.

I have a copy of the BIOS before I flashed it. If I open it in Notepad it gives me the strings "$ASUSAMI$ P5S800-VM 0170 07/11/2005-18:56:38 SIS661FX PACKARDBELL".

You'll note the BIOS string doesn't have the "/S" on the end - after searching ...

i need some help, i have T2130 processor that should support VT (accordng to intel)
the problem is that id doesn't support and when i try to find in in my BIOS in orcer to enable it, i can't find this option...

is it a BIOS update issue? how can it be that the computer has a processor to support this feature but i cant find it in the bios settings...

I'm having trouble determining if there is an update for my BIOS.

I have all info but between the BIOS and Motherboard, neither have been forthcoming with a download.

I assumed that one of these companies (PCChips and American Megatrends) would have something to help me determine if there is an updated BIOS and a download. I also assumed that it would be a self extracting and self installing operation?
