News of Power Management problems

I have a system here with Windows 2000 Professional that doesn't shutdown when I choose shutdown from the start menu.
It does quit Windows, but then I get a blinking cursor in the top left of the screen.

It's a Gigabyte GA 686-LX in a 19 inch rack.
Could it be that there are some cables wrong ?
Maybe a BIOS setting ?

I want to power up my Windows XP Computer from hibernation or standby via the internet thru my LAN. My computer claims to be ACPI compliant but I could find no information on how to set it up. The Power Manager setup screen has no settings for this. Neither does the BIOS seup screen. Do I need a special BIOS or Windows XP Professional? Can someone help or know where I might look for help? ...

during i setup win2k system on it, it tell me "The ACPI Bios in this system is not fully compliant with the ACPI specification" .

I have a EPoX EP-KX7A which owns the latest BIOS version. The problem is the following: I try to install Win XP with ACPI support, well, when I select shutdown the systems hangs. It doesn´t happen when It runs Win 2000. Any suggestion? The OEM String is 8/15/2001 For KX-133 K7 Support.

Why would the Power LED stay on from boot up then an error message " Error Loading OS " and that's as far as I can get now . I did get as far as using Windows NT .
I'm going searching.....
I'm sure all the cables are ok and the jumpers but I'm not sure what the IR jumper is for . I'm thinking InfaRed ??

anyone would know how I can get access to my WOL option in my motherboard. The access has been disactivated by the manufacturer (HP) and I can't get access to it.
