2Gb RAM issue

I have an EMachines 5230 PC from PC World, which has 1Gb of RAM in it (2x512Mb) working fine.

Since it has only 2 slots, I bought 2 x 1Gb modules so I could upgrade to the listed 2Gb maximum for the motherboard.

The 1Gb 2700 modules are both working fine, but only in the righthand slot and, if a 1Gb is in the righthand slot, nothing will work in the lefthand slot, so basically ...

My AMI Bios v7 and windows xp do not recognize all my RAM

specs

MSI MS-7032-02 K8T Neo-V AMD Athlon 64 Socket 754 Motherboard
Crucial 1gb RAM, pc3200 DDR, non-ecc (only ram chip installed)

the result is always the same - bios and windows recognizes it as 256mB

I'm getting the feeling it's a chipset density limitation, however - as stated by the specs for my mobo, it should be able to handle this chipset density

btw, it recognizes all of my old 512 pc3200 ddr ram chip ...

Hi!

I have a Gigabyte GA-586TX3 (latest BIOS 2.1) with 430TX chipset and 3 DIMM slots and 2 SIMM slots.

The manual says I can install 256MB RAM (2 x 128MB SIMMs). Currently, I have one 256MB Dimm in the DIMM 1 slot installed, and the board functions great, even though the manual says it can only support 64MB DIMMs.

When I install another 128MB DIMM, it isn't recognized. Is this a hardware or a ...

In short, i need to set Read Preamble timing manually in bios setup (or even flash fixed value).

The whole story, u may skip it. Damn mobo sets RP to useless 9 ms, my memory (ddr400 of course) cant go past 135 (270ddr) frequency with such crazy setting  (common working values are about 4 to 6 ms) This only happens at higher FSB's, ...
