I'm upgrading an old Lenovo 3000 N500 4233-52U laptop with a Intel Celeron 575 CPU to a Intel P8400 CPU which is stated in the Lenovo Hardware manual as one of the available processors for this computer which there are 13 CPU options. http://lnv.gy/1lrq7Mt

I purchased a used one which was stated, "tested working" and installed it. The laptop runs but doesn't POST or at least the video is not working. It does try to access the boot order as I here the DVD drive work and see the harddrive light come on. There are no beeps. I updated the BIOS with the only additional BIOS supplied for this model with no visible difference. Here is the BIOS page for this laptop http://lnv.gy/1lrqd6Z

While researching this problem, I've noticed others were not able to use this CPU either, but I see where different people claim to be able to use CPU's not on the list of CPU's supplied with this laptop. I'm thinking there may be a BIOS problem or maybe an issue with the interface with the GPU which I'm hoping to mod the BIOS to fix the configuration if possible. Is this possible or am I reaching?

I tried installing a used Intel P8400 to replace the stock Celeron 575 that came with this computer with one that was compatible http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/product ... 001081#arc. Upon trying to boot up, there is no video and no BIOS beeps, but the harddrive light works and I here the DVD drive run according to the boot order. I then updated to the only other BIOS update that Lenovo had for this laptop with no result http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/detail. ... MIGR-70994.

I've found some tools for modifying the BIOS and downloaded but haven't tried anything yet as I'm not sure what to look for or how to do it. I imagine (hopefully) that I can find a place in the BIOS and add the code for the processor or maybe the video processor . This P8400 supports virtualization where as the Celeron 575 does not. The P8400 is dual core whereas the Celeron is single core. beyond that I know nothing for sure. The manufacturer says that this CPU is supported on this laptop but others have said they couldn't get this particular CPU to work in these laptops either.

Any help is appreciated.
