I have this PCI SATA Card (VT6421 Controller) installed on my D845GLVA Motherboard and would like to boot thru my 250gb seagate SATA HDD attached to it. I was unable to see this device on the boot device priority menu and so am not able to boot from this. Is there a way out? Or is there a way to modify the BIOS to accomodate the SATA/SCSI boot option? Please help..

Is this one of the very cheap SATA card where the manufacturer did not install a Bios onto it ?
Without bios this card is not bootable.

Code: Select all

Also if you have a AWARD bios be sure you have enough space, if not then use the /release flag to remove a module and /pci sata.rom to integrate the PCI SATA card's BIOS.
