80GB WD800 recognized but then hangs-Which BIOS patch?

Postby mautse » Mon Mar 10, 2008 6:23 pm

My 80 GB WD800 HD is recognized but hangs before
loading WinXP. My processor is PIII, 500 MHz,
Bios Type= Award Modular Bios v. 4.51PG
Bios ID= 05/24/2000 -i440BX-W977-2A69KM4JC-00
Chip= Award PCI/PNP 686

Do you have a solution, please? I don't know which BIOS Patch to download.
Your help would be so appreciated.

80 GB harddrive finally recognized

Postby mautse » Wed Mar 12, 2008 3:31 am

wow, what a fast reply and a great answer.
That patched BIOS worked perfectly. Now not only my new 80 GB WD800 drive is recognized but it's also booting WinXP.
Thanks a lot for your help. I didn't want to use a diskmanager, so this new BIOS worked. After the first boot my second harddrive was recognized by the BIOS but NOT by WinXP. A "search for changed hardware" got that drive successfully back.
I wish you all my best.
