I am trying to get widescreen support enabled on a VIA EPIA-EX based system that has S3/VIA Unichrome integrated graphics. From what I understand, it is a BIOS limitation. Does anyone have any experience on modifying a BIOS for this particular platform or have pointers on how I would obtain the information to go about doing this? I have a background in engineering, so it is probably within my abilities to modify the BIOS using a hex editor or some other tool, but I have no idea where to begin.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

it's not a bios limitation. if there is a limitation it would be a driver limitation. write an email to VIA/S3 and ask them to write proper windows drivers for their hardware or use Linux.
If you email me include [WIMSBIOS] in the subject.
