could GA-8SIMLH Rev 3.x work on 1440x900?

Hi there,

My PC's motherboard is GA-8SIMLH Rev 3.x. Recently I got a 19" LCD panel (1440x900) and it just has 2 options to choice 800x600 and 1024x768. After Installed LCD's inf, there are 2 more options 1280x700 and 1280x1024, but there is no 1440x900 to choice.

The SIS web said Sis651 can work on 1440x900 if the vBIOS version is upper than 2.28. So I upgrade the Sis driver to 3.73:
http://driver.sis.com/graphic/igp/uniVGA3/uvga3_373.zip

and motherboard BIOS to F12:
http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Support/Motherboard/BIOS_Model.aspx?ProductID=1399

but the vBIOS version stops on 1.12.

if anyone would help me out here, much appreciated.

read the sticky thread in this section and get the patched bios from the download page (link is inside the sticky thread!)
If you email me include [WIMSBIOS] in the subject.

I download the patch BIOS and use the Q-Flash (a utility in BIOS) to update BIOS. After updated and reboot then the PC B----B-B- (1 long then 2 short beep), passed 3 seconds I got 1 beep and the PC restart.

But the PC just shows 640x480 resolution and I have to re-setup then SIS 3.73 driver. And I still have not 1440x900 option to choice.

What step do I lost?

The vbios version is 1.12.05.

Or I can't update then BIOS via Q-Flash?

Could the BIOS of Gigabyte 8SIMLH(-P/-C) 1.x/2.x/3.x work on 8SIMLH 3.x?

Not sure what Q-flash is but chances are it won't recognize the patched bios as a regular release bios and refuse to flash it. Use the classic update method.

seems that you should try another method flashing the bios like edwin already suggested.

The Gigabyte update site returns the same bios files for all 8SIMLH boards upto revision 3.x, so i conclude that they are all the same :)

Q-Flash is a utility in the BIOS. I can use the utility when I enter the BIOS setup.

BTW, I boot into DOS via floppy and use a flash utility to update BIOS. As same as update by Q-Flash. When reboot the PC beep B--B-B- (1 long and 2 short beep) and hangs 3~5 seconds (I'm afraid it kept on the black screen) then beep B-(1 short beep) and boot correctly. But the vBios version still is 1.12.05.
