Fan Control Gateway MX6958 Laptop

Have this gateway with overheating problems.

Here's the symptoms, when in windows XP, the only fan never turns, and eventually the system will overheat and crash.

Funny thing is the fan will spin on power up indicating the power and control to the fan and the fan itself are working.

Even more interesting is that fan went to full power when flashing the bios to the latest version (7712), so there is some fan control there somewhere.

None of the fan control utilities available have helped.

Is there some command line bios control that will permit me to spin this fan up?

And this is becoming a cronic problem on many laptops that I see.

Gateway just wants it to go into repair.
