Please tell us what's written ON your motherboard. You have a KAIMEI/JAMICON board.

My second PC is a 643E (but with an LX chipset)... that's why I'm curious about his board. My BIOS string is totally different.

Hi.
In the middle of the motherboard there is
"KM-T6-AL1 REV1:1"
and in the manual the motherboard type reported is
" Pentium II BN633 Main Board"

I hope you can find anything for me.
Thankyou a lot!!!

Yes, it's there. I have also a PDF manual - don't know where I got it.

And then... what you suggest to do??
You suggest to try to load the bios for KM-T6-A1 (from Rainbow)
also if the board is KM-T6-AL1?
(but in nix.ru the rainbow bios is associated with KM-T6-AL1)

Is it dangerous if I load a i440EX bios in a board with i440LX chip???
If I try, could I "go back" with a recovery dos disk and restore the prevoius bios?

Thx

i440LX and i440EX is the same chipset. What do you want the new BIOS for? If you're looking for support for HDDs over 32GB, send me the BIOS your currently have and I can patch it for you.

Wow, I've never tought that anyone could do this!!!

But, my problem is not HD.
The problem is that sometime the pc power off!!!
In most cases the pc reboot when I'm working with big images.
But is not a rule.

I checked plugging-in of my cards: ok
I checked cables, fun cooling, cleaning of motherboard: all ok

So I tought to "bios instability" whit large amount of memory usage.
Maybe it's not a "good think", but i would only try this chance.

If you have some idea or you know a good "log program", i'll be happy to get your advice.

Tanks to all.

Same symptoms happened to me once. I changed my power supply unit and I've never experienced them again.

Hi
I made another bios tour... searching a bios update... and I find this post.
The autor of that post have my same mobo, whit chipset LX, like me.
But him original bios is newer than mine!

My original: 12/18/97-i440LX-2A69JK19C-00
Him original: 03/21/98-i440LX-19980216C-00

You suggest him (and me) to update with
Your suggest: 09/10/1998-i440EX-2A69J001C-00

The unique problem is LX vs EX. You told me that LX=EX, but I read elsewere (I don't remember where) that EX is "slower version" of LX.

I'm not "an expert", I trust in you, but I would a confirmation that there is no problem putting EX bios in LX motherboard.
Else, do you suggest to write a mail to autor of other post asking to send me him bios?

THANX!
