BIOS v. 3.08 for Asus P5BW-LA wanted.

Postby ROMero007 » Wed Jan 21, 2009 12:35 pm

Hello,

I want my original BIOS version 3.08 for Asus P5BW-LA back.

I've been stupid by clicking a flash upgrade under XP,
(install couldn't be stopped).
But I wanna downgrade the version, cause of problems.

Anyone can help me to get a ROM or BIN file for the BIOS of my mobo?

Many thanks in advance!

3.08? You're sure that is not 5.08?

What is exactly your problem? Did you clear the CMOS after the upgrade?

Thank you for the link that I also visited before.
Did NOT clear the CMOS.

That made me curious: The updated versions of the BIOS have a different number for different OSses (I use Win XP).
Win XP BIOS update: 317.rom
Vista BIOS update: 508.rom

My problem after the BIOS update:
When my PC is working hard for about more than 0.5 hour
(gaming) my fans are making heavy noise for some seconds.
I consulted an HP employee who told me that the fan behaviour
was intended in the new BIOS....

I have my PC for about 1.5 years and with my old BIOS had never had problems with my hardware and software config.

Greetings.

You should ask that same employee for the old bios then as it hasn't been online ever.

Code: Select all
BIOS                                            Date     Version     Previous     Size
P5BW-LA/P5BW-LE Motherboard BIOS Update   10-2007    3.17    -    1.31M

Previous version is a "-" so this is the first one released to the public...

Hi Edwin (goedendag),

Thanks for the quick reply.
3.17 is indeed the only version at HP or Compaq site, for XP.
Have contacted the employee who said I could downgrade my
BIOS to prior version with the rom in sp26920.exe for Vista.

Both descriptions of the BIOS update (XP and Vista) are the same,
so I replied the employee if he was sure about the downgrade.
Now I'm waiting for his reply.

My case would be solved if someone with the same mobo
didn't upgrade the BIOS and could send me the backup of
that BIOS, which can be done with the program "flash.exe".

Pending for solution...
