Bad results from a bios Update - help please

Postby HP_help_please » Wed Jun 03, 2009 7:54 am

Hi, I need some help regarding my HP Pavilion Media Center a1640n Desktop PC - running Windows Media Center Edition 2005. I have updated my BIOS - P5BW-LA/P5BW-LE Motherboard BIOS Update from the HP web site using - File name: sp35153.exe.

Motherboard is ASUS P5BW-LA.

After I ran the program, it asked me to restart. After restarting, Windows does not start. I have tried to enter safe mode and last good known settings and normal settings - but every time it shows the Windows screen and 3 seconds later - it goes back to the screen to select which mode to start. Could it be the updated BIOS which ran some kind of program which Flashed something - resulted to this? please help
thanks

No more likely you need to repair your windows installation as it cannot find the harddisk controller anymore. This kind of stuff can happen after a major bios upgrade sometimes.

Assuming your HDD is SATA, check your Bios for a SATA controller operating mode. If it's currently set to native IDE/compatible try AHCI instead or vice versa.
