Compaq Presario 1200 (12XL513) won't turn on after flash

Recommended by Wim's BIOS...

I attempted to flash the BIOS on my Compaq Presario 12XL513 with the following

Presario 12XL and 1200xx Series System ROM Update
06-2001 F.0D (05/31/01) - 374.14k

This file contains a utility that extracts to a bootable floppy, with phlash.exe and a .rom.

The notebook now won't turn on.

When the AC adapter is plugged in, the 'plug' indicator is on, but the power switch does nothing.

I've tried a number of different keys (Fn+b, Fn+win, win+b, Fn+esc, etc.) to try and get the computer to access the floppy drive and reflash itself, but there doesn't appear to be any response.

Is there anything I can do, or is the entire motherboard useless now?
