Need to cheat my Laptop to think its running on Power Cord

Hi
I bought a UMPC - ultra mopicle pc - a small laptop in china a few weeks ago,
discovered I can't conrtol brightness of the screen,so I get a very low brightness when I run on battery power.
If I plug power cord when the comp is on,nothing happens ,but if I boot with the power cord in I do get full brightness but no control of it.
Even if reset the system after it has full brighness and I pull out the power cord I still have full brightness.
So I'm looking for a way to make the computer thing its in power cord when its not ,only for the first second of the boot , and then switch to battery power status, I thought maybe its possible threw bios update, and here I need you help.
Today I can't work with it outside , becasue with no power cord plugged in ,the brightness of the screen is so low compared to the sun that I cant see a thing
I tried to talk with the company ,but its located in japan ,and they didnt understand a word I said, so no help from there.

the model is :
Kohjinsha SK3 UMPC
with a bios: 1.0c-0016.American Megatrends - Toshiba
Win 7
Atom CPU 1.33
1 GB RAM
60GB HardDISK
TouchScreen

thanks in advance, waitng for your suggestions
