Battery not charging

I have an Acer 5920 and my battery will not charge. I replaced the battery and it does not work. The battery indicator icon says it is at 0% and charging but it doesn't. Recently the icon did show it was charging and it went to fully charge, but the next day it was completely dead. I was told by the battery company that I may have to upgrade the bios. Would that be the problem?

Only if that is an Acer bios you are getting from the official Acer website and only if that is an Acer-branded official replacement battery.
