Is this the problem of my note book or software CD?

A day before I tried to installrecruiting software in my notebook, but on inserting CD on it I saw a message "Please insert CD". I actually couldn't realize either it was the problem of the CD or notebooks CD drive. I tried few other discs on my note book, but I saw the same message again, then I came to know that it was the note book's CD drive which actually was not working. Can anyone provide me with the solution how can I deal with it? Or the only alternative left for me is to replace the CD drive of my note book? If so, how much will it cost for the replacement?

if it does not read CDs at all it means you need to replace the drive. Costs depend on the brand and model of your notebook.
