Asus P5KC won't boot.

Recommended by Wim's BIOS...

Hello everyone,

since half a year my computer started having startup problems, the pc shut itself down once or twice during the startup of Windows before it would act normal.
Hoping it wasn't the power supply, I updatet the BIOS using a USB-stick and the program in the BIOS.
After the bios update was finished, the PC rebootet, only it didn't boot correctly.
After that, when I start up my PC it stay's on for about 5 seconds and shuts down itself after that, not even enough time to enter the BIOS again.

Hope there is anyone who can help me!

Shouldn't be bios.

Sounds like a power supply or CPU overheating problem to me. Check if all fans are running.

What is the brand/model of your power supply?

Can't imagine it's overheating. All fans are running and the problem started immediatly after updating the BIOS.
Can't imagine either that the CPU will overheat within 5 seconds.

My power supply is the OCZ GameXStream 600W (http://gear.ocztechnology.com/products/ ... index.html)

According to what I can find online, the power supply is using Teapo, CapXon and OST capacitors, all three brands have a less than stellar reputation.

I bet some of the caps are bulging.

As for the timing, you know Murphy's Law, right?

So, basically a new power supply it is?
That's a shame... was hoping not to have spend any money on it... You are very sure it isn't the motherboard though?

What you have to do first is check inside your power supply to see if indeed the capacitors are bulging on top.
