bios scare?

Postby Pucman1 » Sun Jul 14, 2002 3:19 am

ok really simple I am sure. I have a kr7a-133 abit board. Need to upgrade the bios to accomadate the 2100 processor. All the info on the site refers to a bin file for upgrading. Got the proper exe file off the site. It expands to give the bin file and a few other files, but it says in the read me file to use a runme .bat.......doesn't say when to use the runme.bat.....do I need to open the award flash program....and type the runme.bat in there or outside the program......very unclear and the site link to abits page for further help is a dead link......

really don't want to mess up this board........ thanks

Ok, problem solved.......just opened up in a pure dos start up with the program on the floppy...executed the exe file and that expanded the bin file and the runme.bat....started the runme.bat from the a: prompt and that took me right through the flash process.....shut down.....shut off the power to the machine.....started back up and reset the bios.....new athlon 2100 processor is in and working mighty fine..... \\\\\\\\\\
Hope this helps someone else......Abits information on there site is vague and confusing to say the least
