Got this from the Unicore BIOS ID agent:
Program: Unicore BIOS Agent Version 1.8
BIOS Date: 11/27/97
BIOS Type: Award Modular BIOS v4.51PGM
BIOS ID: 11/27/97-FireStar/8661-2A5UQACDC
BIOS Eval: 99t08-1
Chipset: OPTi 82C701 rev 32
Superio: ITE 8661/SiS 6801 rev 2 found at port 279h

Which motherboard is this? The comp is a noname laptop made in Taiwan by Spica Computer Corp (FCC ID=I7GCORE586). The Award code 2A5UQ isn't in Wimbios list, so don't bother there.
I am looking for the FLASH update file for this BIOS.

Any help appreciated.

tia, daniel

I just disassembled it - terrible example pf user-friendlyness...
Printed on the motherboard is: P9900MB01A-1 and on stickers on MoBo: M/B: 87050120V9, S/N: x83299033. I can't find any other numbers.

The label on the top lid (monitor) says "SUPERNOTE".

Thanks, daniel

Hm, Spica seems to be out of business.

I thought it might have been a Twinhead Supernote, but they stopped using "Supernote" back in the 386 days.

I found a reference to a Micon CORE586, which might be connected.

But, I think you're screwed, sorry.
Flash your BIOS at your own risk.

Thanks soupy.

I think that the laptop is a Spica SC-9900. I found it at several memory vendors and the processor stated on their pages (Pentium 233) is the same as in mine. However, I haven't found any motherboard/bios info yet...
