I couldn't find anything the chaintech sites.

Is there a manual anywhere.

The seller says they were intended for computer game machines (like the ones in McDonalds) I have a feeling there isn't any info out there about the boards.

You really can find the info.

According to that only the
C6 and Winchip II chips are supported.

I wonder if this will work as a normal PC board?

From what I know now it is a board with a sis5598 chipset. What I do not know is what it looks like. If the board has regular onboard I/O and PCI/ISA slots, I really wouldn't know why it shouldn't work. Can you send in a picture or scan? There may even be settings listed on the board itself, we might be able to form some sort of settings chart out of that.

Looks pretty standard to me except for the Video and sound connectors. I wonder if a modem and everything could plug in?

It also supports the 2.2v I need for a k6-2 but I am wondering if the power plane was made real wimpy and thats why only winchips are listed. Well, only one way to find out I guess.

The only odd thing I can see are the four 9-pin headers. Haven't got a good explanation for that second battery clip in the middle of the board either.

I saw somewhere the SIS5598 chipset was designed with the Cyrix processor in mind.

As for the CPU, I strongly suggest you stay with the 233 MHz (PR-300?!?) Cyrix, that's lots faster than a 233 MHz Intel for normal computing. In games it'll perform poorly either way.

You get a strong performance gain from going to SDRAM, and then putting a 75 or even 83 MHz bus Cyrix in - like an MII-333 2.9V 83 MHz 3.0x, or if you can get hold of one, an MII-433 2.2V 100 MHz 3.0x run at 83 MHz 3.5x. That's what the SiS 5598 chipset was made for

Maybe the board has 4 serial ports - notice the two Winbond chips (one left from the PCI slots and one above the 9-pin headers) - maybe two Super I/Os? Right to the 9-pin header is ESS sound chip.
The second battery clip looks weird - maybe there is some SRAM onboard for storing something?

Don't we need to have the board physically running to help us identify the BIOS string?

This board I assume seems similair to my MoBo, expect the clock, clock multiplier are higher, and keyboard connector ATX is different. The board does not look like there is a modem connection. Probably need an Add-ON PCI or ISA card for it. If it is similiar, you might run into the 32 gig Cyclinder Limit and IRQ Sharing functionality.

Hey, I might even plan to buy this, rebuild a system, then use it. What do you folks think?

Hmm, sorry to revive an old thread, but I have one of these boards and I am curous about the connectors

I managed to get this thing to post after some effort (it really does not want to disable the onvoard video) It comes up 02/24/1999-sis-5598-2a5IIc3ac

The bios has a multi I/O setup and some strange values having to do with the FUNWORLD port. Yes It does have 4 serial ports along with some ??? ports I don't recognize.

It pops up FUNWORLD for the post screen

One is labled FUNWORLD PORT CN13 and it has 26 pins
CN12 has 16pins, I would like to use the onboard video and sound but i'm not sure where to hook them up.

There is also a strange connector CN6 which has 26pins but 2 are "keyed"

Also a CN14 which has 12 pins and is next to the vga enable/disable jumper.
