I/O system

Would like to hear from others on this.The way I understand it works is this.
When you start the computer the information in the BASIC INPUT/OUTPUT
CHIP tells the bios to check the A:\ first then goes and loads the operating system((((((what operating sys. are they talking about)))))) where is it and what does it do.

Also MA motherboards--what are they,and what makes them different from an OEM--original equipment manufacturer-- :?:

Know a little about it would like to learn more

It means whatever OS is installed on the boot drive (i.e. drive C:\)

this could be DOS, Windows, UNIX, Linux, etc....

Or whatever device (cdrom, ZIP, JAZ drive).

This includes network bootroms, where it will find basic info to setup a network connection and load a bootimage from the server it connects to.
