I recently tried to recover after suffering at the hands of a trojan of some sort, however having owned a packard bell, the only viable way to do this seemed to be to insert the recovery disc, unfortunatley that had an error on it so I tried to install windows from another set of system discs from my fathers pc. The net result appears to be that the chipset bios have been replaced with non compatable bios and the PC is now"buggered"!!!! The harddrive is working on startup but noting appears on the monitor. Ive bought a new PC but would love to get the other one up and running.Any ideas would be appreciated.

The net result of using a standard windows setup disk should not have any effect on the bios of the machine. Try and get the machine to boot in safe mode (F8 key during startup).
