I want to get a better idea if I can mess with the following BIOS settings to get better performance.
I have:
WinXP
AMI BIOS (020206L)
ECS K7S5A, AthlonXP 1800+
384MB of PC133 SDRAM
(the board supports DDR Memory (266Mhz) but I don't have any yet)
BIOS SETTINGS IN QUESTION (Current settings in
BOLD)
DRAM Timing configuration -
Normal, Fast, Ultra, Safe
SDR/DDR CAS Latency -
SPD, 3T, 2T [book says 2T is for special memory. I used "2" on my Tyan KT133 board under the Award BIOS with no problems with the same memory sticks]
SDR/DDR RAS Active Time -
6T, 7T
SDR/DDR RAS Precharge Time -
4T, 3T
Clk Gen Speed Spectrum - Enabled,
DisabledDOS Flat Mode - Enabled,
DisabledDRAM Driver Slew Rating -
Normal, Fast
Any help in explaining the above parameters is greatly appreciated. I have looked at my MB Manual and it doesn't go into great detail about these settings. I would like the best performance options identified.
Thanks
