Hi,

I have found it is the shuttle mobo HOT-541.

Does anyone know if the latest BIOS update for that board would support harddisk as large as +10 GB ?

thanks a lot in advance!
regards,

Tomba

Trouble is, there seem to be many versions of the 541. Have you tried the info at http://www.spacewalker.com/english/support/faq/top10QA/mbinfo.htm ? The Shuttle/Spacewalker page on Wims main site lists

541WNB - 541WNQ - 541WNS
541WUB - 541WUQ
541WSB - 541WSQ - 541WSS

Can you give us more info ?
[edit] I checked checked the 541WUQ BIOSes available at ftp://ftp.spacewalker.com/
which are :
06/06/97-i430FX-2A59CH2CC-00, (541WUQ20) Intel i430FX PCIset(TM)
12/31/96-i430FX-2A59CH2CC-00, (541WUQ13) Intel i430FX PCIset(TM)
06/14/96-i430FX-2A59CH2CC-00, (541WUQ10) Intel i430FX PCIset(TM)

and the WUB_0E (?) BIOS on Wim's
03/05/96-i430FX-2A59CH2CC-00, (541WUB0D) Intel i430FX PCIset(TM)

hi,

actually the trouble is that I cannot have a look at the board myself until wednesday of next week. I should know if large disks are supported before then. Unfortunately, I can't even call at the moment, because she is not there to look for more information on the board :(
Therefore, I do not know very mmuch extras, exept the board is running a Pentium-S 166 MHz processor :?

Would there be any difference on that particular support of large HD's? I suppose the variations of the board are produced in a very short time following one another...

what would in fact be the additional information be that is needed to determine the board version?
Is that the motherboard and PCB version of the board? Would that be enough?

will it then be possible to determine whether large HD's are supported or not?

thank you very much for the help already :)

hmmm

I looked today at the board, and apparently not all of the information discribed at the page is on the board. Here is what I have, hope it is enough...

chip 1 (northbridge I think) :

Intel PCIset
SB8237FB
L6023747
SZ997
Intel @ '94

chip 2 (probably south bridge) :

Intel PCIset
SB82437FX66
L6033893
SZ999
Intel @ '94

finally, I found on the board : v1.1

there weren't any of the stickers on the board that were described on shuttle's page... although I hope this would be enoug information.

Thanks in advance for the help...

Look at this picture :
http://www.spacewalker.com/german/prod/mb/p5/541.jpg

On the left side somewhere in the middle adjacent to PCI-Slot 2 ans 3 there's a chip > Check for any markings on it .
Should be from UMC SMC or NatSemi
you board may look a little different but the chip should be there
