OK, downloaded the .pdf for MS-6147 from the MSI Taiwan support page.

Find JBAT1 at the front left if you are looking from the front of the PC and move it from position 1-2 to position 2-3 for a few seconds.

NickS: how about the 6119/6147 confusion? When I check the bios string for the 6147 it says 2A69KM4EC iso 2A69KM4AC
just wondering...

I've just downloaded it to check and it seems OK. Would you like to try again ?
Unserious warning: the CBROM utility does show me that 2.1 has a Packard Bell logo in it instead of the usual EPA logo. This could be fixed

They're quite different boards: no. of slots, on-board graphics and sound on 6147. Damn, I just closed the two windows where I was comparing them. Have you checked for writing (MS-6xxx) on the board ?

I checked the bin for the latest bios of the 6119; that shows 2A69KM4AC near the end, where the bin for the 6147 shows 2A69KM4EC.
That's why I thought maybe topicstarter has a 6119 after all...

i flashed the patched 2.1 fine

but when i look in setup it still shows the drive as 32gb, ive removed the jumper from the drive as well to stop it from limiting the drive to 32gb

is the display in setup correct?

That BIOS ID is used by the MS-6119 BIOS 2.0 for standard (switches/jumpers rather than CPU plug'n'play).

The BIOS OEM message (top left of memory count screen under the Award logo) in that BIOS is "W6119MS V2.0 072898".

Does your board have on-board graphics and sound ?

@crisp: Oops, I forgot who I was talking to. Yes, I'm puzzled, but Bedford says the board looks like the MS-6147 and you can't really mistake an AT board with 4 PCI 2 ISA for an ATX with 3 PCI 1 ISA - and the 6119 doesn't have on-board sound and graphics. A puzzle.

@bedford: Sorry about the confusion. Did you use any drive management software (EZ-Drive, IBM disk feature tool etc ?) They can set the reported size to 32GB and have to be reset.

Some utilities have more than one function; they can change the disk's reported size as well as install a DDO. I haven't used the Seagate tool, as my drives are Maxtor, IBM and WD. I think I have a Seagate 600MB drive somewhere :)

IBM provides a separate tool which you can use to change the DMA mode and reported size. Removing their DDO doesn't reset the drive reported capacity, which has to be done explicitly separately.

I get this when installing Win2k

Please wait while setup formats the partition

C: New <unformatted> 76301MB

on 32248 MB Disk 0 at Id 0 on bus 0 on ATAPI

how come it shows up the correct size at the top but not the bottom?
