I have an aging HP computer that has a ASUS MEW-VM motherboard in it. The computer currently has a 500MHz Celeron CPU. I'm interested in upgrading the CPU, but I need a BIOS upgrade to support the new CPUs.

Any help is appreciated,
Nate

Don't bet on support from Asus. You'll probably have to get a BIOS update from HP, based on machine model.
Flash your BIOS at your own risk.

HP uses that board in at least the following systems:
HP Pavilion 8530
HP Pavilion 8560c

The BIOS update coincides:

Looks like hawk_103.exe is the file you need. It was released in 8/1999.

Thanks for the responses, but my current BIOS is Core Version 4.06 BIOS REV 1.03 08/20/99.
I'm guessing hawk_103 is already installed.

If I were you, I'd get a new BIOS chip, have it programmed with the ASUS BIOS, and keep the board in observation for a while.
Probably it's 100% compatible.

The problem is that Asus does not have any BIOS for this board.
