I have a dilemma my bios is dated 1995 and apparently there mobo was discontinued and there was never an upgrade done for the bios.

Is there a way around this to find one that would do it?
or am i stock with it as it?
here is the string just in case
61-1229-001998-00101111-071595-440BX

Thanks

1995 has nothing to do with the BIOS release date. You'll see it further up-left, on the same page you see the BIOS string.

My guess is your release date is 12/29/1998 (the manufacturer modified your BIOS ID).

Is there any marking on the board itself that could lead to its identity?

Where I mentioned you'd find the release date, sometimes the manufacturers include the motherboard model. Please post what's written there.

Hi here is the info i got from the string using wimsbios and on applet
The Motherboar Manufacturer "Sono"

An AMIBIOS ID String Was Detected:
61-1229-001998-00101111-071595-440BX
-- ---- ------ ------
| | | |
| | | Chipset/BIOS Info
| | Manufacturer ID
| Version Information
Processor & BIOS ROM Information

BIOS Date : 07/15/95
AMI-BIOS gefunden : Version 12.29, Date 15.07.95
Processor : 686: PPro, PentII, Pent III, Athlon, Cyrix 6x86, etc.
BIOS : 128 KB, Reference Number: 00
OEM ID : 1998 = Chang Tseng Corp

Am I reading this wrong or are you it seems that the bios date is 1995 and the 1998 identify the manufacturer?

In any case i am looking for a better bios..

You're very right. I totally forgot about vendor code 1998. Some vendors do change that part of the string to reflect a release date, though.

If it's a SONO board, then the only sites I know of are:
www.sono.pl
www.sono.ca
