Pls help with my GeForce4

Hi guys,

Recently I bought a 3d card.

My card is a Leadtek (manufacturer name) Winfast A170 DDRT (product name) based on GeForce4 MX440 SE 64 MB.

My motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-6VX7B-4X with chipsets VT82C694X (VIA Apollo Pro 133A) and VT82C686B.

Initially I had problems of being unable to click any 3d games. When I do that, the comp will hang.....
I tried to flash card BIOS, flash motherboard BIOS, installed card driver, installed motherboard VIA chipset 4in1 driver......

And now the problem becomes worse.....not only I cant start any 3d games, but now the card is running only at 2xAGP (previously 4x) and the monitor is distorted/ showing slightly broken graphics.

I tried to remove the card and insert it to my old motherboard.....and ran it......the problem persists......does this mean I have problems with the card's BIOS?

Please advise..........thanks!!!

Your problem might actually be in your VGA card itself (i.e. RAM, capacitors, etc.), not just the BIOS (which may be perfectly ok).

RMA it.
Flash your BIOS at your own risk.

Hi...
Sorry but what is RMA actually?

BTW...Im now using another GeForce4 card with same specs. It can run well. So apparently there was a problem with my first card, although I still havent realized what the problem is and what might cause it.

Unfortunately.....Im now noticing some RGB spots....
Whenever theres a colour rich graphics, for example a photo in the internet, there would be red spots scattered across the photo....sometimes its blue or green or mix, but mostly red.
This is definitely RGB colour spots. But why????

If I try to run the desktop at 32-bit colour depth, there would be less spots, but when I run 16-bit colour depth, there are more spots...

If I resize the screen resolution or change the refresh rate, no impact at all.

So that leaves me really wondering......does anyone have any ideas what might cause RGB spots to show??

Please advise...thanks..!!

Im using GeForce4 MX440SE 64MB with plug and play monitor and 4x AGP

Try running a memory diagnostic.
