I can't seem to get past this point in flashing my BIOS.

"The program file's part number does not match with your system"

I get to this point and I have no choice but to reboot. I tried adding the commad /PY but I get the same error.

I'm trying to update the bios for an A-Trend ATC-6230 440BX AGP AT motherboard. The BIOS infor at the bottom of the screen is as follows:
10/23/1998-i440BX-W9T1EF-ATC-6230C-00

The command I'm using is:
a:\awd812 6230112A.BIN (enter)

(which is the award bios upgrade I downloaded from this site)

HELP

I just bought a 60 GB and my bios dosen't even see it there.

Also tried this command: a:\awd812 6230112A.BIN /Py /sn

Same result.

Use a different version of Award Flashprog or use Uniflash

Is the 32GB 64GB a fix for those motherboard bios? Having some trouble pulling up that site.

Now I went and did it. Something didn't work because now I just get a steading beeeeeep continious and no image on the screen.

I backed up both the BIOS and CMOS, but how can I restore them with no image? I also said yes to the bootblocker option.

My motherboad manual says I'm suppose to now clear the CMOS by setting a jumper. Could that be what's causing the beeping?

First time flashing a BIOS, but have worked on my own PCs for years upgrading motherboards and the like. Guess this is the last time I try to upgrade a bios.

1) Have you flashed the correct BIOS? There are two versions of ATC-6230 board - v1.0 and v1.1.
v1.0 displays:
02/10/1999-i440BX-W977EF-ATC-6230C-00
ATC-6230 VER:1.0 04 WB

v1.1:
12/08/1999-i440BX-W977EF-ATC-6230C-KZ
ATC-6230 VER:1.1 02 WB

2) Did you flash including bootblock (in the advanced menu)?

Does the board read from floppy?

This is what it displayed:

I assume that was Version 1. 0

I didn't see anything indicating a different version, but downloaded two:

6230V104.BIN dated 02/10/99

6230112A.BIN dated 02/11/00

since the latter had the latest date I assumed it was the most up to date version and flashed with it. Apparently the wrong version. I find it incredable that these two versions could be so different as to not work at all.

I did flash leaving Bootblock in place. I replaced my video card with an old ISA card and got a display. I also had to replace my SuperFloppy with an old 1.4 drive and got it to boot with a win 98 boot disk. So now I have Uniflash back up on my screen. The area that says restore the backup bios file I saved to the bios chip is grayed out.

How do I restore my old BIOS or should I just flash with the earlier version? :roll:

Flash the v104 version.
I can send you this one patched to support HDDs up to 128GB.

I guess if the BIN has the same name as the version I have now, i should delete it from the flooy boot disk before downloading?

Well the updated and patched BIOS flashed just fine, but the weird thing is when I try to go into either the Standard CMOS Setup or the Auto Detect IDE Device Screens, the CMOS locks up, it never finds the devices and the keyboard won't let me skip or get out of those two screens. I have to reboot.

Yet if I ignore the setup and just let it find the devices as it boots up, it seems to locate each one just fine. I can't tell if its locating the entire 60 GBs or just the lowlevel format it came with.

I tried buying a Maxtor ATA 133 card, but it isn't recognising the IDE devices either. Even with I disable the onboard IDE in setup
The HD is an Unformatted Maxtor 60 GB.
The boot sequence does not seem to locate either my floppy drive, nor my super floppy as the A: drive. Thus I can't boot to floppy. The superfloppy is located as its an IDE device when I just let it bootup without enterning setup.

Weird. It's probably me doing something wrong.

Some BIOSes do this with the over-64GB patch. I'll send you another one, patched to support HDDs up to 64GB.
