startup up screen and when in DOS has mixed up letters and vertical lines. :( started when trying to install Windows XP.

Now losing CD drives in windows 98 when installing VIA 4in1 drivers.

tried upgrading BIOS with no effect.

any idea about what is happening?

Reseat video and ram. Try different ram.

IMHO, this sounds like a hardware problem, and I do NOT recommend flashing your BIOS until you get it resolved.
Flash your BIOS at your own risk.
