I am completely new to BIOS, but I can handle it, I have worked with the registry in the past...

anyways. I am trying to turn off ACPI

http://www.ridimultimedia.de/kb/staudio/2000xp/index.html#This article says this: Make sure that the PNP OS INSTALLED setting in your BIOS is disabled
How do I do this?

Thanks,
Slant

depends on the bios but for the most part enter your setup program.....locate the entry "PNP OS Installed"........there are two options......."Yes"........."No".

Note: By selecting no you have told the mobo you will be manually configuring all resources..........this may be more than you bargained for.

If you still have questions, provide more details such as what motherboard/BIOS.
