I am working on a lockup problem on Compaq M700 1GHz laptops. We are finding that some of the units locking up are missing the Power Management Meu in BIOS, so we are unable to disable the Hibernation mode. Flashing the BIOS has not helped. Any ideas?

Isn't hibernation set in the OS?
Flash your BIOS at your own risk.

In compaq laptops the Hibernation is in the BIOS. It is taken out of the options since they came out with the armada series. Since compaq uses proprietary BIOSes not ami or award. Try using Windows 2000 or XP and not installing ACPI

It can be set in both places on some of these units.

Disable the hibernation in BIOS and use the OS feature (Win2K/ME/XP).
