Hi,

I have a Ricoh cd-rw burner and its firmware is about 3 years old now.
The problem is, I can only burn 48x and 52x blank cd-r's at 2x speed.
The burner's maximum speed is 8x, so I would like to use that.
Testing with Nero shows that 8x works fine, but when the actual burn starts, it gives me a media error and slows down to 2x.

My question is: is it possible to add the so-called ATIP codes identifying blank cd-r(w) media to the firmware?
I've read that the reason that firmware is being updated so often, is the addition of new ATIP codes so the recorders can use media from new manufacturers, or new types of media are recognized.

Any help or suggestions are welcome!
Thanks!

Yes, I have the latest version, 1.20. Checked (again) with Nero Infotool.
