I have an Azza motherboard
PT-DVAX2 03/10/2000-693-596B-977-2A6LGP8EC-00 VIA 693 596B
Upgraded from Win 98, performed a straigth installation with FAT 32. Now XP will not power off the computer when "turn off" is selected. Should I have chosen a diffent type of HAL or is there an update to the BIOS for the mobo.

If you're using the "Standard PC" HAL, make sure that APM is activated in your Device Manager. You may have to unhide devices (option) to do this.
If it's ACPI, then it's simply not compatible with XP. You'll need a BIOS update.
