Uniflash problem with W49F002U

Recommended by Wim's BIOS...

I noticed that Uniflash could not write successfully to W49F002U flash ROM.

I have tried at least 5 known good chips (flashed successfully with AWARDFLASH), and all tests resulted in write error with the majority of blocks being skipped. I changed motherboards (VIA and SIS chipsets) but got the same result.

Is this a known issue with this chip?

Known issue - without dataheets not easy to know what's the problem.
I think Rainbow has fixed some incompatibilities with this type but not all with the latest version.

Denniss: Thanks for your reply.

But the datasheet for this W49F002U chip can be easily downloaded from the website of Winbond. I even have a copy myself.

To Rainbow: When can this issue be possibly fixed in Uniflash?

in most cases EEPROMS have to be cleared before they can be write again.

Uniflash does not have this feature to clear EEPROMS/Flashroms (yet

).

Uniflash v1.38 now works fine with W49F002U flash ROM.

Great work on a great universal flash utility!
