Successful BIOS update, but nothing new?

Postby Great » Fri May 17, 2002 3:46 pm

Hi

I've successfully updated the BIOS on my PCCHIPS M583LMR Motherboard! I've noticed there are no new BIOS settings in the Setup and I don't know what benefits I've acquired updating this BIOS. Does anyone know of the enhancements provided by the new BIOS on PCCHIPS M583LMR motherboards?

Note: I have noticed the one short 'beep' (meaning okay) is audible on two seperate occaisons during POST; it used to beep once during POST when I had the old BIOS.

Thanks for ANY replies. :)

The version number has changed, which indicates a successful update.

Usually bug fixes and larger supported hard drives are what most of them update.

Any future updates?

Could there be any more updates available for this BIOS? If so, could I reflash the BIOS to obtain another update or would that be harmful?

Here's something to think about: what sort of bugs do BIOS updates fix?

Incompatibilities, overlooked items. if someone releases a video card, for example, and it causes stability issues, the company might release an update, etc...

You should be able to reflash your BIOPS as much as you want. But its not something you should do unless its necessary.
