64MB RAM is shown as 16MB

Is your memory not fully recognized? (Intel VX chipset Memory recognition)

64MB RAM is shown as 16MB

Hi every one....
I have small doubt.I have an very old intel motherboard 166Mhz with MMX tech.I am currently using 16MB SD RAM, running win 98SE and thats working fine.I am trying to use 64MB SD ram.But whenever I plug the 64MB SD ram and boot the computer it says 16MB SD RAM but works fine.
My bios is Award Modular BIOS V4.15PG 01/21/98-VT82C580VP-2A5LA008C-00
I suspect it cld be a BIOS update issue.Any help on this.

Thanks in Advance...

It's a VIA motherboard, not Intel. Anyway, how many chips does your 64MB memory stick have? I suspect it has 8, and your board perhaps only recognizes a maximum of 32MB DIMMs with 16 chips.

VIA VP1 chipset -same limitation as i430VX regarding SDRAM. Motherboard appears to be a FIC Pa 2005 or a similar board.

Best way is to buy 2x or 4x 32MB EDO

What if your 16MB RAM module is really a 64MB module?
