Some of the newest mobos are using this new kind of flash chips, that are incompatible with older, "parallel" chips.
I have two friends that screwed their BIOSes that were inside LPC/FWH chips, but I couldn´t help them ´cause I don´t have a suitable mother for hotflashing.
I want to build a hardware standalone programmer for this kind of chips.
Now, the big question is: some BIOS files are .BIN, some are .ROM. Are they an exact image of what´s inside the chip?. That is, the first byte in the file must be programmed in the first address of the flash chip and so on?.
Thanx...

Hi.

LPC and FWH describe programming methods[...].

The extension of a BIOS update (128KB, 256KB, 512KB, 1MB, 2MB,) is equal and is not depending on the used programming method.

If another mainboard is able to program FLASH-EEPROMs with different capacities and with different methods depends on the chipset and the mainboard iteself.

You can try Uniflash too.
