Hi all,

The ID string of my system is " 06/27/2000-sis-630-p6stp-flc-00 ",
ECS, the maker, tells that I am behind 13 bios updates since June 30,
2000. see this: http://www.ecsusa.com/ecsusa/www.ecs.co ... 6stpfl.htm

I have two questions:

1. If wanting to keep my bios up-to-date , do I need to flush the
bios one by one from the oldest to the newest ? or , I just
flush once using the latest bios file?

2. I have only DOS boot disk made from Windows 98, is it all right?
I read some where saying that a pure DOS is needed.

Appreciate your help

Use the newest Bios available .
But you have to look for your Revision number of your Board .
If you have 1.1 then use the 1.x Bios .
If you have 1.1a or higher use the 2.x Bios

Hi Denniss.

Thanks. the flash utility never indicated that the operation
was completed and the graphic showed part of the bios still
not being updated. I rebooted the system after ten minutes anyway.
The boot up screen told me that the bios had been updated and the
Windows 98 loaded up without incident except that the network card
required reinstallation .

Do you think I have fully updated the bios?

By the way, there is a jumper controlling ENABLE/DISABLE BIOS FLASH,
I left it untouched as no idea of its pin numbers

It got updated for sure. The non-updated portion is just the bootblock, which doesn't usually require updating.

Hi Ajzchips, Thanks. Another question, I knew that the old bios supports 40B hard disk but how do I know how large this new bios can support?
