Phoenix Bios for Sony Vaio

Recommended by Wim's BIOS...

I have a Sony Vaio PCG-747 (Pentium 266MMX, 128MB RAM). It has the following info about the BIOS:

Phoenix 4.0 Release 6.0
Version R0202S3

I'm having shutdown problems with Win98SE (it hangs at the Windows is Shutting Down screen) so I've been following this great advice for troubleshooting:

Nothing there works, other than renaming BIOS.VXD to BIOS.OLD. Then it shuts down. The troubleshooting guide suggests that this could be resolved by updating the BIOS but I can find nothing about what BIOS I need, or how to go about doing it if I did.

Can anyone help with this?

Your model more than likely is the same as the US version PCG-748. Unfortunately, Sony does not offer a BIOS update file on the Sony site.

Have you tried the Euro support site for Sony to see if they have a BIOS update available?
