Asus A7N266-VM - no POST

I just bought one of these to put in a new PC, but on power-up, although the fans work fine, and the HDDs do an initial power-up, there are no POST beeps at all, and nothing is written to the screen. I've double-checked all the connections, and in fact disconnected everything except the processor and the RAM, but it makes no difference. Is this likely to be a "dead" mobo, or is there perhaps something obvious that I have overlooked?

Thanks, Kevin
