Hello,

I own a Compaq Deskpro EX 1.0 with Bios Ver 2.04 (the latest available) I recently laid hands on a Intel 1266/512/1.45V Tualatin processor wich works on the mainboard but the error code 1801 is given.
Windows XP pro recognizes the processor, CPU-Z also reports the right speed an FSB but every restart shows 1801 eroor in the post, micro code patch required.

Any one got a clue?

Your Bios does not have the Microcode Update availabel for this CPU. The Microcode Update is something like an Online-patch to fix small errors inside the CPU, it's loaded every time the system starts directly from Bios.

Hello Dennis,

Thanks for your reply, now is the question where to get this micro code so i can use it, do you have any options?

I'm not an expert in modifying Bios. so I can't help.

Do you have AMI, Award or Phoenix Bios ?
There's a small chance to modify if AMI or Award but much less if Phoenix.
